Blog Response #2
Choose a character from your book. How do you envision this character? Use your words to describe how this character looks, acts, and behaves. Also, discuss the impact this character has had on the story up to this point. Would you be friends with this character, or would you avoid him/her? Why? What role does this character play in your book? If this character was not in the book, would the book change? Why or why not?? (Remember to give specific details and a complete blog entry, and don't forget to comment on two other blog entries! Happy Blogging! :)
I envision Louie from Running Loose to be tall and muscular, but not to muscular. He has brown hair and wears jeans with t-shirts every day. He is an outgoing guy and believes in himself. He says what's on his mind. Louie is the main character of the book and has had the most impact on everyone else in the book. If I were to personally know Louie, I would like to be friends with him. He seems like a fun person to be around and always has something to talk about. Because of Louie being the main character, of course the book would change.
ReplyDeleteI said the around the same things for Louie. I feel Chris does a really good job on how he tells a story, and how he describes people within the story
DeleteI kind of relate Louie to Preston from Chinese hand cuffs. He seems to say what's on his minds even if it could be rude, he has a large impact on the book, And for the right crowd Preston would have been a fun person if he did not do what he did.
Deleteafter reading this they seem qin my mind to be a not emotionally scarred version of Dillon.
DeleteI can relate to what you said i think that is tall and skinny and not to muscular. I feel like he does a really good job describing the characters in the book. Louie says what he beilives and i like how he shows the whole town how he feels.
DeleteThe character from my book I pick is Dillon. I envision him as a tall teenage boy with brown hair and looks like a bad boy that doesn't really care about anything. He is one of the main characters of this book and he has written letters to his dead brother. In part of the book he try's to get back for what people have done to make his brother commit suicide. he has a biker gang come after him because he decided to dump his brothers ashes in the bar he was always at. I would be friends with this character because deep down he has a genuine heart and care's about a lot of things and people. if Dillon was not in the book the book would change and then it would just be about the other main character Jen.
ReplyDeleteIm reading running loose and i believe that he is almost reusing the same people for some of the books he has wrote. For my book your Dillon is my Boomer. Practically the same person, just very little differences.
DeleteThis seems like a very emotional book but also really draws my attention with the suspense and drama.
DeleteBoomer in Running Loose is just like Dillion the guy that does not give a care in the world.
DeleteDillon is like boomer in running loose though boomer has the past of being beaten by his dad and a rough childhood of living out in their area they sound like they could relate and get along.
DeleteI agree that Dillon is tall and skinny with brown hair. He definitely does not care what anyone thinks of him.

DeleteKaitlyn~ You say Jen's life would be affected if Dillon were to be absent from the book, but what specifically would be changing in her life? Do you think that Jen would be able to open up to any other characters about her stepfather's abuse?
DeleteThe book I'm reading is Chinese Handcuffs and the character I'm choosing to talk about is Dillion I think dillion looks like he would be skinny and very athletic because the book talks about how He is athletic but doesn't play any sports at his school. In the book, Dillion acts cocky and messes with his principal in the book, but dillion is also a very smart student and never has gotten a grade lower than a B in school. This character has a big impact on the book because He is the one writing this letter to his brother that committed suicide. In the book Chinese Handcuffs, I would not be friends with dillion because he has a messed-up life, and he seems to be arrogant. The role dillion plays in the book he is the main character, and yes, this book would be very different if Dillion was not in it because there would be no one to tell the memories and stories he had with his brother Preston that committed suicide
ReplyDeletewhy do you think he messes with the principle
DeleteI will agree with you that Dillion looks skinny and also that the book would not be much of a book if it was not for dillion as the main character.
DeleteGood description Jude! I can picture what this Dillion looks like in my head like he is a real person!
DeleteI'm reading running lose and you dillion is my boomer with the way he's so cocky and is a bully to others.
DeleteI agree with your vision of Dillion being athletic but doesn't show it, by not playing any sports.
DeleteI am reading Chinese Handcuffs as well and I agree with your view of him, do you think he acted arrogant and in that manner before his brother passed as well?
DeleteI agree with you that he acts arrogantly but I am curious as to if this comes from the passing of his brother or if he has also been this way. In some ways in seems like his brother's death really changed him.
DeleteI agree that I would not be his friend not because of him specifically but because of the drama around him.
DeleteI envision Louie from the book running loose as a taller guy with dark brown hair. He is the main character in the book and has the most impact on everyone in the book. if i was in the same school a Louie or knew who he was I would talk to him because he seems like a nice guy. The book would change if he was not in it because has the main character.
ReplyDeletewhat kind of impact does he have
DeleteLouie does what he thinks is right whether there's consequences or not.
DeleteI am reading the book Chinese handcuffs and i can connect to you that if it wasn't for the main character, it wouldn't be much of a book.
DeleteI am reading running lose and I did also think the Louie would be taller with brown hair and jacked because he is an athlete.
DeleteNick~ What specific impact does Louie have on the other characters in the book? Is this impact a negative or positive one? What other personality traits does Louie have that would draw you into being friends with him in the real world?
Deleteeric is a teen boy in highschool who is overweight he also is a swimmer, he acts more adult than most of the other characters. the impact he has had is primarley on sarah byrnes because he visits her at the mental hospital every day she eventually trusts him to talk to him. id be friends with him he seems like a trustworthy guy. this character is the main protagonist you follow throughout the book. if he was not in the book the book would be drastically different because he is the main character
ReplyDeleteIn my book the main character is also a swimmer and acts more like a adult. this is because he has had to grow up on his own and did not really have any siblings around when he grew up.
DeleteI'm reading running loose, and the character I'm choosing for this activity will be the main character, Louie. Because he is in football, and this probable takes place in around the 60s or 70s, I can only presume that this guy is really big. I feel like he isn't the slimmest person on the team, but beefy. He really is a guy that goes by his own word and doesn't listen to what other people have to say about him. Louie is one of the most important characters in the book because, he brings balance to the football team and stand up for what he thinks is right. He would be a good friend if he were to be real.
ReplyDeleteLouie in your book is kind of like Eric in Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes (the book that I am reading). You said that Louie stands up for what is right, Eric in my book stands up for Sarah when she isn't able to at times, and he is also a man of his word. If he said that he will figure out what the next best thing they should do to help out one of his friends, he would do it and not give up. Eric is also pretty good at keeps secrets if someone asks him too.
DeleteI am reading Chinese Handcuffs and Eric kind of sounds like a character named Jennifer in my book. She will do anything for anyone and will always stand up for someone who may not be able to stand up for themselves.
DeleteI also think this was in the late 1990s i can relate because louie is a hardworking guy who stands up for what is right. i think he did the right thing leaving the team and i think that he is tall and skinny and muscular and i would like to be friends with him.
DeleteI am reading the same book and I imagined Louie to be taller and a bigger guy because He is an athlete and probably works out a lot.
DeleteI envisioned Louie from running lose to be a tall but built guy because he plays football. He acts like a normal high school boy, standing up for what is right and not letting people talk him down. Louie is the main character so he has the biggest impact on the story. I would be friends with Louie because he is a nice guy and stands up for what is right. Louie stands up for what is right. Yes the book would change because then there wouldn't be a story if Louie wasn't in it.
ReplyDeletedillon in my book chinese handcuffs is very similar because he is also an athlete and stands up for himself
DeleteLouie is an amazing character and wish to have more people like him in stories and in the real world
DeleteI think that preston from Chinese Handcuffs, would be average height, a with some muscle, and some tatoos. Since he is in a biker gang, and did drugs along with being an alcoholic. Preston would be some one who always had a mean look on his face, someone you would be scared to approach if you didn't already know him. He has been very important to the book, he is dead, which is why his brother writes letters to him, always about how life used to be, or major things going on in it right now.
ReplyDeleteIn my book stotan the main characters brother is a drug addict. He also hangs out at a biker club house. I think that these two characters are very similar.
DeleteI'm reading stotan, and the character I'm choosing the character Jeff. I imagine Jeff as military man. This is because he when to the marine corps basic training. I think that he is very straight forward since he was trained in the military and he probably has short hair and is muscular. I think that I would would be friends with him since he seems like a nice guy. If he wasn't in the book I don't think it would change much since he does not do much he is kind of just there.
ReplyDeleteI agree with James. I see Jeff as basically that kind of guy as well.
DeleteI'm reading the book Chinese handcuffs and a character in my book Dillion could also relate to jeff because I imagine him as a strong and straight forward guy.
DeleteI am reading Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes. This Character that i am choosing Eric the narrator/ Main character. How i envision Eric is an heavier set high school guy. With i feel like brown or black hair. With just a big personality but some people don't see that just because he's different so no one wants to talk to him. He Acts Nice to everyone unless he has a reason to dislike you. The Impact this character had on this story so far was that he went to sarah and visited her in the mental hospital even though she couldn't talk. Also another impact is the reason that Him and Sarah are so good as friends is that they found a similarly that they share just that they are different than "Normal teenagers". Lastly how Eric likes to start up Drama with Mark Brittan so keeps the whole conflict interesting. Also how he's talking to marks ex girlfriend just he straight out keeps the book interesting. I would be friends with Eric i would not avoid him. The Role he plays Is the Main Character/ Narrator. If Eric was not in the book the book would change by a lot because the book is all around him. Because it is all about him and his connections and his drama.
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with this. I also would become friends with Eric because if the way he acts and treats others. He doesn't like to be in all of the drama and make more which is why he would try to avoid Dale Thorton, but when he couldn't avoid Dale, he would ask Eric for his lunch money and Eric would usually give it to him unless Sarah told him not to so then there is not all of the drama, and he is not involved. I also believe that if Eric wasn't in the book in would change so much since he is the narrator and one of the main characters. Who do you think would be the narrator if Eric wasn't in the book anymore?
DeleteIf eric wasn't the narrator I think the narrator would be Sarah instead just telling her story and all of her connections.
DeleteI also like Eric as a character because he is very honest and open with everyone about how he feels or thinks, which I definitely like in a person.
DeleteEric Is very much like dillion from Chinese Handcuffs.
DeleteDillion has to have a reason to dislike you because you either hurt him or a friend, i also thought he is similar to the build you described Eric, except I think dillion would be like a stick. Dillion is seen as an outcast because he will not sign up for track when he is talented. So a lot of people call him selfish.
Eric is open minded and is not afraid to tell you how it is. He wants what's best for Sarah and most of all he wants Sarah to be okay.
DeleteI envisioned Dillion from Chinese Handcuffs to be a moderate tall kid that is very athletic and skinny. This is because he does lots of triathlon and he is very good at them. He has a kind of arrogant attitude because he dont give back to the school because he knows it pisses his principle off. he has had a big impact on the book because he is the main charter, and the book would be nothing without him. i would get along because he seems like a guy that would be easy to get along with.
ReplyDeleteI am also reading Chinese Handcuffs, I do agree with the discription of Dillion. Do you think the reason that Dillion may talk back to teachers is due to what happened to his brother, or just the way he has always been.
Deletei am reading the book running loose and i imagined Louies to be taller and a little skinnier and very athletic, and also has a big impact on the book just like your character does.
DeleteSince I am reading Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes my character that I chose Sarah. I picture Sarah to be this average sized teenage girl and average height, with major scars all along her face and minor scars on her hands from being burned. Sarah acts a lot like her father. She is tough, rude to others, straight forward, will call you out if you do something wrong or bad, but she is also nice and caring about her friends (mainly Eric). She would stand up for Eric when he was being bullied and can't stand up for himself. Sarah has a major impact on the book. Sarah is in Sacred Heart because all of a sudden during class she just went silent and froze. Nobody could get her to talk or move, not even Eric. With Sarah being like this, it has left a huge impact on Eric. I would probably be friends with Sarah because she stands up for her friends just like I do with mine, so we would at least have something in common already. Sarah is one of the main characters in the book. If Sarah was not in the book, I honestly don't know if there would actually be a book since it is literally about her.
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree which what you think Sarah would look like i can see. She does indeed at like her father and she is very touch and rude to others that could be from her past. Just like her trust issues she has there is no one that she trusts not even Eric because of her past. Sarah does stand up for her friends and you do too indeed. I think the book would just be about eric and his other friends so the book would not be as interesting without sarah in it.
DeleteI agree with you and what Sarah looks like. Scars on her from being burned. She also does stand up for Eric which is what I like about her.
DeleteI am reading stotan and the character im choosing is Lion. i imagine lion being a low life because he is always going to the bars and doing drugs with this biker gang and his friends always have to go pick him up from the bars drunk and they have to drag him back to his apartment because he can't walk up the stairs and can't do anything i think a lot of this comes from both of his parents getting killed in a boating accident.
ReplyDeletehow do you think his life would be if his parents hadnt died
DeleteI'm reading Chinese Handcuffs and it seems like Lion and Preston from my book have quite a bit in common. Before Preston died, he was also in a biker gang, did drugs, and spent lots of time in bars.
DeleteDo you think he would have a better life if his parents didn't die?
Deletehow do you think he would be if he wasnt going to the bars and doing drungs and alll the other stuff?
DeleteWhat do you think lion looks like?
Deletei am doing dillon from chinese handcuffs i imagine him as tall and muscular because in the book he is in sports and known as a very good athlete the impact this character has mad up until this point is he is the main character of the story and is trying to go on with his life after his brothers suicide by building new relationships and trying new things and the book would be very different if he wasnt in it because no one could tell the story of how preston was before his suicide and the memories i would be friends with this person because he is a nice person and everyone juist overlooks him and brings up his past
ReplyDeleteI am choosing Stacy from chinse handcuffs. I visualize Stacy as pretty, slim, and blonde because of how she is with a jock ( Dillon). I am not completely sure on what Stacy looks like but she acts responsible, kind and has hope for a good future for her and her son. Stacy has had a large impact on Stacy, because it seems he is still in love with her, affecting his and Jen's relationship. I probably wouldn't be friends with her, but I would not be against it. I could see us being friendly acquaintances just because she would have her hands full with a kid, relationships etc. She plays the role of the current love interest of Dillon and previous girlfriend of Preston. The book would be a lot different without Stacy, because she is the love interest of a main character as well as the mother of another main characters child.
ReplyDeleteI kind of imagine Stacy as your typical high school popular girl. Do you think Stacy participated in the drug scene with Preston before he died?
DeleteI agree that Stacy seems like a slim blonde and because of the way she acts in the book. Do you think Stacy will start to like Dillon? I think Dillon will end up with Jennifer because he talks to her more often.
DeleteI envisioned Louie from running lose to be a tall but built guy because he plays football. He acts like a normal high school boy, standing up for what is right and not letting people talk him down. Louie is the main character, so he has the biggest impact on the story. I would be friends with Louie because he is a nice guy and stands up for what is right. Yes, I think the book would change because then there wouldn't be a story if Louie wasn't in it.
ReplyDeleteLouie definitely stands up for what he believes in, and I agree that this story would not be the same without him. I feel like Louie stands up for what he believes in because he learned it from his dad. Do you think there is anything else that influences Louie to be the way he is?
DeleteWhen I think of Dillon from Chinese Handcuffs I visualize a skinny guy with messy hair. Dillon is a very laid back guy and strikes me as someone who doesn't care much about what others think of him. If I had the opportunity I would definitely become friends with Dillon because we have similar interests and he has overcome a lot in his life. Such as the passing of his older brother, Preston. As a main character, Dillon has a very big impact on the story and wit would not be the same without him.
ReplyDeleteI also chose the main character of my book and without him the entire story wouldn't even happen because no one else stood up the horrible things that the other characters did in my book.
DeleteI am reading Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes. The character I chose is Sarah I chose Sarah because she is a very interesting person. I see Sarah as a very outgoing character, she has her own way of doing a lot of things. For example, her relationship with her father and how she lied about what happened to her to make her father look bad because of how much she disliked him. Sarah has a major impact on the story is the main character, she brings the drama and suspense to the story. I wouldn't want to be her friend just based on what happen with her and Eric, how she lied to him and treated him poorly.
ReplyDeleteI am also reading Staying fat for Sarah Byrnes. I wrote what i think about Eric but i agree with you she is an interesting person. She does very much way of doing a lot of things she is very independent when it comes to people I agree with you with this also i don't for sure know if i will be friends with Sarah. Because of how she lied to Eric but besides that i would try to be just really depends. She doesnt very much in fact bring the Drama and suspense without her the story wouldn't be as good. It'll just be boring with Eric and his other friends and his teacher and the other people in the story.
Deletedo you think the book would be the same or totally different without her?
DeleteI am reading Chinese Handcuffs, and Eric seems like Dillion. He is very inteeresting, and doesn't like to talk about his problems with others, like Eric
DeleteI am also reading Stay Fat for Sarah Byrnes and I agree with you that she has her way of doing things and how she has a big impact on the story as she's one of the main characters.
DeleteI am also reading this book and I have to say that Sarah makes an impact in this book and if she was not in this book then Eric would have nothing to talk about or to check up on. This book would be boring without Sarah in it.
DeleteWhen I imagine Dillon from Chinese Handcuffs, I see him as tall and lanky. I don't view him as very muscular because runners typically aren't. I imagine him with dark messy hairy, and brown eyes. I imagine him as more of a loner that only hangs out with a few people, Stacy and Jennifer. I don't think I would be close friends with him, but I think we would be acquaintances. Considering he is one of the two main characters, the book would be very different without him.
ReplyDeleteI imagine the main character in my book to be sort of similar to your description of Dillon. Why do you think that you wouldn't be friends with Dillon? Do you guys not share similar interests or is there something about him you don't like?
DeleteI imagine him similarly with the hair and eye color, but rather fit/toned then lanky. I also would agree with you on the friendship part. I would not be close friends with him either, because our personalities would not mesh.
DeleteI also chose Dillon as the character to envision because he is the main character. I see Dillon as shorter and more built because he seems like a tuff guy since he stands up to multiple people who seem to be bigger than him.
DeleteI envision Louie as a 5-foot 11, skinny but built man. He would have brown hair and brown eyes and has pretty basic facial features. This is all I could really think of considering that he is the main character and hasn't been described by Chris. Louie is a very honorable man and stands up for what he believes in. He also doesn't hold back what he is thinking and is a very open guy and that makes a really good friend. If Louie wasn't in the book the story wouldn't be able to be told with the same emotions that Louie shows.
ReplyDeleteMy character from my book matches this build as well. I think it is interesting that the author describes the characters in different stories the same way.
Deleteis Louie your favorite character in the book so far? if so, then why? is it because of his honesty and ability to be open with people?
DeleteI agree with this book needing to be told by Louies point of view otherwise it would not be as interesting.
DeleteI am choosing Boomer Cowans from Running Loose. I imagine him to be tall and a little meaty and thick but not massively thick. Still thick enough for you to say "woah he's kind of thick". I think he would have dirty blond hair, a mullet, bright blue eyes that stare into your soul, and he would wear a trucker hat and jeans and boots. He gives me country boy vibes based on the way he acts and talks. I imagine he would have a slight southern accent. Would I be friends with Boomer? NO. Boomer has been a bully to the main character, Louie, for a long time and a lot of people find him to be rude. He is also racist and mocks Louie for trying to stand up to a black football player from another school. This book would be very different without Boomer and Louie wouldn't go through as much conflict if Boomer wasn't around. #cancelboomercowans
ReplyDeleteI agree with you very much. I think if Boomer wasn't in the book, less racism would be pronounced in the book and bullying wouldn't be happening as much.
DeleteIt would be interesting to see what some of these books would look like if they didn't have the narrator in them. I don't think the story would be told as effectively or as well without the narrator.
ReplyDeletethe character i am choosing to describe is lion from Stotan! when I envision lion, I see an abnormally tall and muscular teenage boy who would easily be spotted within a group of his peers. lion generally seems like a gentle giant but is very serious about the things he cares about. i would be friend with lion because he seems like the kind of person who always be there for his friends. if lion wasn't in the book, I feel like our main group of friends would feel like it was missing a key component, and they wouldn't have a place to stay for stotan week
ReplyDeleteI also think this friend group is like an unbreakable bond, it would be difficult to imagine these guys as friends if they didn't have each other.
Deleteif walker wasn't our main character, who do you think would be? i personally think nortie would because he seems to have the most depth to his as far as characters go and we would get an even closer look at his dad's abuse of him and his mom
ReplyDeleteI am choosing to envision Louie from the book Running Loose! I see him as a tall skinny guy but muscular. The strong individual that isn't afraid to stand his ground and always believes in himself. He has made a huge impact on everyone in this book. I personally would be friends with Louie just so I know I have someone that will stand up to people for me. He is the type of person that knows when to have a good time and when to be serious. I think he will continue to change this book as it gets closer to the end.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what you are saying about Louie. I also believe that he has made a big impact on everyone in this book, and he isn't afraid to say what's on his mind.
DeleteHe seems to connect really good with the character i choose walker from stotan he stands his ground believes in himself and has a huge impact on the book.
DeleteNot sure why, but I envision Walker from Stotan to be like 6 feet tall with 90% of his height coming from his legs. Decently muscular and extremely lengthy arms which is good for a swimmer. Has kind of long shaggy brown hair in a middle part. If Walker was not in the book I don't think the story would change too much. I mean he is the one that is telling the story. But if he didn't exist I don't think it would change much. I mean he is just a swimmer, if he wasn't alive then there would simply just be one less swimmer on their swim team.
ReplyDeleteDo you think the story would be told differently if he wasnt telling it?
DeleteYeah, Walker is the main character, and the story would be different if it was coming from someone else
DeleteI think walker is extremely similar to dillon, almost like a twin as far as looks.and if our descriptions are accurate, they are also very similar in the way they both act
DeleteThe way you described Walker sounds a lot like Louie from the book Running Loose, he is a taller kid and is also muscular, and he also is in sports.
DeleteI'm choosing to envision Walker from Stotan. I imagine him as a skinny kid with some muscle from swimming. He acts like a parent of the friend group and keeps everyone together. if Walker wasn't in the book, it wouldn't be a book as he tells the story and is a major part of their friend group. I would probably be friends with him he seems like laid back person and kinda just dose what he needs to. Hes a key part to the book and it wouldn't really work without him.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you think he acts like a parent in the friend group.
DeleteI agree that Walker is a key part of the book because everyone looks to him and follows his lead. is there any specific thing from the past that makes Walker act like a parent? I feel like his parents being really old could play a part in him being more mature.
Deletethe character I chose to take a look at Dillon, Dillon is a six foot two, well built, and I believe to be tanned. he is constantly fighting, not in the traditional sense, he is constantly pushing his body to the breaking point, always running, swimming, and moving to help distract him from his past. his attitude towards people is finicky, he respects the basketball coach a lot but would fight tooth and nail to argue with the principle. the impact on the story this character has on the story is great, the story itself revolves around the death of Dillons brother, he is constantly doing things to move past and do right by his brother, both loving and loathing his brother. I could not be friends with him, too much drama and risks. Dillon is one of the two main characters within the whole story. the changes would be to big to comprehend in a simple blog but his brother might not have died, Jennifer might never have opened up about her stepfather, the bikers might never have caused so much property damage, etc.
ReplyDeleteHunter Fosdal
ReplyDeleteI am choosing the vision of Louie from the book running loose a tall fit muscular but not jacked senior looking as if he wants to stay clear of everyone and keep to himself. Louie a man that doesn't back down when he knows he is right and knows his rights vs wrongs in harsh reality. I would be friends with Louie because i know he sticks up for his friends and will be on your side as long as it is right. Louie the main character has the biggest role as he shows that sportsmanship is key in sports because without it, it can be very rough and not fun for one team. If Louie was removed from the book the book would be a completely different story probably following carters' steps as he is basically the second side character and his journey to college football
i see dillion as a tall skinny kid that is very nice and will help anyone out with anything. i see him that way because of what he says in the book. some of the things he talks about are something that you would think a adult would help you with. he also right to his brother about how he feels and give him advice to rember.
ReplyDeleteWhy does dillon write to his brother?
DeleteI would agree with the way you described Louie. Do you think the story would be different or the same if Louie wasnt in the book.
DeleteI am choosing Louie from Running Loose because he is the main character. I envision Louie as being a strong guy with brown hair. I would think Louie wears jeans and a t-shirt every day with a hat. He is a guy who isn't afraid to say what is on his mind. He is confident about what he believes him and wants the best for himself. If Louie was not in the book, it would make the book change in a huge way. He has made an impact on everyone in the book. If I knew Louie personally, I would for sure be friends with him. He seems like such a fun person to be around, and I feel like we have a lot in common.
ReplyDeleteDoes Louie get into any conflicts in Stotan one character, Nortie has an abusive dad and i think him working through that makes him better as a person and makes people see him as stronger than they saw him before.
DeleteWhen you mentioned how Louie stood up against his coach it reminded me of how one of the main characters in my book Dillon stood up against his coach. In what way did Louie stand up against his coach? Dillon got into an argument and threatened his coach in front of the school for disrespecting his deceased brother.
ReplyDeleteI am choosing Jennifer from Chinese Handcuffs, because she is a very important character in the book. I envision Jennifer as a very athletic young woman. She is also thin and has long straight hair. I think she would very leggings or joggers and an oversize t-shirt on most days. Jennifer is the kind of girl who has everyone's back and will do anything for someone. Along with carrying the basketball team, and not thinking she's better than anyone. Without Jennifer in the book, I think it would change the book a lot because right now in the book it's a lot about her taking care of the team and carrying to the state tournament.
ReplyDeleteDillon seems like the type of person that is really nice until he has a reason not to be. I think he is the kind of person that likes to get under people's skin to make them look bad. If Dillon was not in the book, there would not be anything exciting to happen. Dillon is the main character and is the reason many of the characters tie into the book so it would not make sense without him. I would be friends with Dillon because he seems like an outgoing person, and I feel like I could trust someone like that.
ReplyDeleteI envision Nortie from Stotan as someone that looks like me. He is relatively quiet and shy with people he doesn't know. Nortie's impact on the story has been the "drama" because of everything that happens in his home life with an abusive dad. I would for sure be friends with Nortie because he is very hard-working and I feel like I relate to him a lot. I feel like if Nortie wasn't in the story then everyone would lose their inspiration because I believe they think Nortie is strong to keep fighting and not take the easy way out.
ReplyDeleteI am currently reading Chinese Handcuffs and my favorite character is grandpa. I imagine grandpa is someone in his 80s he is balding with grey eyebrows . He has glasses with thin gold frames.. think he was 5,4 at least has got a dad bod with big ears. He will wear a flannel shirt with blue jeans or coveralls. Whenever he would go to the store he would secretly find something for Jennifer like candy or a new puzzle and give it too her. I feel like the grandpa knew he was protecting Jennifer in some way or another but did not know the exactly happened. I assumed he had dementia or was in the early stages and so jenifer had to help him alot. And whenever she would help him heed say "good thing your smart" Or something to that effect over all i think hes just a wholesome man that should not have gone the way he did.
ReplyDeleteI am choosing Sarah from Staying fat for Sarah Byrnes because I envision her as an independent person that doesn't talk to many people and likes to do things her own way and keep things to herself. An example of that is how she lied to Eric about the burns on her face and kept it a secret the whole time. I don't know if I would be friends with her because of the way she lied to Eric. I didn't really like that.
ReplyDeleteIn the book I'm reading, Louie is the main character, and he likes to do things his own way as well. But Sarah and Louie are kind of opposite when it comes to personalities, because Louie is not afraid to speak what's on his mind and Sarah seems like she is shy.
DeleteI am reading Stotan! the character i am choosing is Walker i picture him the leader of the group the one to tell everyone what they did wrong and what they can do to fix it. This character is the narrator of the book if he was not in the book it would be a different setting and if he was not in the book i don't know if there would be a book. Walker is a outgoing person that wants to finish his senior year off with a bang not quiet.
ReplyDeleteThe book I am reading is Chinese Handcuffs, I am going to describe Dillon because of how much he interests me. I picture Dillon as a tall and lengthy kid with not a lot of muscle on him, the reason I see him like this is because of how he describes how athletic he is but does not participate in any sports at the school. Dillon has has a large impact on the book since he is one of the main characters. I am not sure if I would be friends with Dillon because of the trouble he makes at school with the principal and sometimes he acts better than people and arrogant. Without Dillon the book would be missing a big piece of the book, since Dillon has a big part in the book and is always writing letters to is brother that passed away.
ReplyDeleteI am reading Chinese Handcuffs, and I think Dillon and Walker are alike in many ways like being athletics and messing around with people.
ReplyDeleteI am reading Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes. The character I chose was Eric. He is the teenaged narrator of the novel, also known as Moby, faces several conflicts, both internal and external, throughout the book. Eric engages in a great deal of introspection as he tries to decide how best to help his at-risk friend. He also tries to decide what to make of complex moral issues, both during his CAT class as well as during his interactions with Mark Brittian and Jody Mueller. While Eric himself does not change a great deal over the span of the book, he does provide assistance to others who need change or refuge. Most of what Eric does is learn to look again, and to see people and situations more complexly, especially when his peers are involved.
ReplyDeletei imagine Dillon Hemmingway as 6'2" with a slight muscular build due to his triathlon activities and the training that goes into doing a triathlon. He would also have blue eyes and dirty blonde hair. He is a fairly respectful kid who is just going through the actions because of his brother's suicide. He also knows he is selfish and is not proud of it. Dillon has had a significant impact on the book so far because half the book is from Dillon's point of view. i feel like we would get along pretty well because we would have the same view on important things. Dillon is the main character in this book, and without him there would not really be a book.
ReplyDeleteI envision Jen from Chinese Handcuff to be tall, muscular, and tan since she is the star athlete of the basketball team. I see her being very protective over her younger sister, Dawn. She is very levelheaded and intelligent. I imagine we would be somewhat of friends considering we are both protective over our family and very competitive. I'm not much of an athlete and never took interest in basketball so we would not have a common interest in that aspect. Jen is someone Dillon heavily relies on, and both his life and the book would be very different without her. She is an advocate for many characters in the book but not for herself.
ReplyDeleteThe Character I chose is Sarah Brynes, I envision Sarah as angry and hurt, I envision her as this because, in the story she suffers from the trauma, of her childhood and, how everyone talks about her burns she got as a child, she gets very angry and aggressive when people, talk about her burns and her father. Sarah's impact on the story is huge, she is the center piece of the story. I would be friends with Sarah, because she honestly needs people there for her because, she is going through the most stuff, but it would be weird, because she is always angry and sometimes silent. Sarah plays the tough and aggressive character, which mostly has a lot to do with her past. If Sarah Brynes wasn't in the story, it wouldn't be a story, she is the main topic, even when the story switches between characters, Sarah is still the main topic.
ReplyDeleteI envision Louie from running loose to be a taller and skinny, but not to skinny. He plays a lot of sports so I can imagine he is a little bit built with being involved, also in the book he explained that he was hitting the weight room everyday. I can see him with brown hair and wearing a t shirt and jeans, and he also drives a truck. I would be friends with Louie he really gets around is nice to everyone. He is the main character of the book, and if he wasn't in the book it would play an impact on the other characters in the book and how they act.
